Passing of Buzzy Linhart & Arthur Berggren
I am sad to announce the passing of my father Arthur Berggren on 11/6/2019 & Buzzy Linhart on 2/13/2020, one of America’s finest singer songwriters. Together they formed Buzzart Enterprises Inc. for the purpose of handling the administration of Buzzy’s catalog of works. Here is how Arthur & Buzzy met in Arthur’s own words; “Buzzy and I met at a street jam on Ocean Front Walk at Venice Beach. I used to take my flute with me on week-end walks and look for somebody to jam with. One Saturday afternoon I ran into a crowd of people listening to a guy playing vibes right there on Ocean Front Walk and Rose Avenue. A street musician guitar player folk singer I used to jam with from time to time who called himself ‘Street Smart’ (Peter Damien) called to me and said ‘Hey Arthur this is Buzzy Linhart, a famous N.Y. musician. Get out your flute and join us.’ I did. We jammed away, got invited to a party, jammed into the night and became friends.”
Audio engineer Bill Black joined Buzzart in the 1990’s & is now the sole surviving founding member of Buzzart Enterprises Inc., the last man standing. Buzzy’s son Xeno David Rasmusson, Arthur’s son Christopher Berggren & Bill Black will carry on with Buzzart and continue to publish the quality recordings of Buzzy Linhart.
Buzzy was a prolific songwriter and is one of the progenitors of the Singer-Songwriter Movement of the Sixties and Seventies, a prominent figure on the Greenwich Village folk scene. His songs have been performed and recorded by major artists such as Bette Midler, Barry Manilow, and Carly Simon.
Rest in peace Buzzy & Arthur, your music & achievements will live on.
